OUR PROJECTS

EDUCATION

In the established two schools in Golahat named Fatima Yaseen Model School and OldBabupara named Safia Muhammad Ali Model School, a new batch of students matriculated into grade 1 this year.

In 2015, Friends of Humanity was able to open a third school, consisting of pre-school and grades 1, 2 and 3in the town of Niamotpur called UmmeyHabiba Hussain Model School, each class consisting of 25 students.

As students graduate to the next grade level, the school is capable of handling a new batch of fresh students.

FOH is fortunate enough to be in a state to provide a healthy breakfast to the students in the primary schools as well. We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day and providing the children with this nutritious start to the day will hopefully aid them in expanding their minds and horizons.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated, “Seek knowledge from cradle to grave” and we continuously strive to provide these children opportunities to attain an education and with your continued support, we can hope to bring them into a better life.

Pre School

A new addition to the FOH educational program comes in the form of Pre-School facilities with each class consisting of 25 students, providing very young children the early opportunity to learn.

InshAllah these kids will matriculate into grade 1 and the class will be filled with a fresh batch of preschool children.

We hope to encourage these young minds to view education as a means to move forward in life and we hope you will help us in this endeavor. And inshAllah next year we can expand the class size.

Coaching / Tutoring

A second addition to the FOH educational program is the tutoring/coaching program for students in grades 7, 8 and 9 begun at the Golahat camp.

We have 25 students from each grade and 3 skilled teachers have been hired to provide tuition in English, Math and General Science.

This coaching/tutoring opportunity will allow this young generation to prepare for exams privately and pass exams to eventually enter the Bangladeshi school system.

We hope this gives you an idea of how your donations are making an actual difference in their lives.

Teacher Education

The teachers we hire in these schools are chosen for their commitment and love for teaching and we have also provided them with courses to enhance their teaching abilities.

The Department of Education of Bangladesh provided a 3 day training course and certification of completion to the teachers.

FOH also hired an additional educationist, Mr. Suhail Akhtar Khan of Chittagong, to provide further training to ensure the education the children were receiving was standardized and satisfied requirements.

Housing Project

Camp occupants in the Ispahani Colony camp had 60 homes rebuilt in brick after a streak of arson attacks.

Last year the Swedish Ambassador visited the project and was happy with the progress made.

The NGO department of Bangladesh came to inspect the construction of these homes for appropriate use of funds and issued a satisfactory report regarding quality and progress.

Additionally, this past December, the Secretary General of FOH, USA, Mr. Ehtesham Arshad and Country Director of FOH, Bangladesh, Jalaluddin Ahmad also visited these newly constructed homes.

Mr. Arshad reported how pleased and happy the residents were as well as thankful to both donors and FOH for helping rebuild a roof over their heads
